[edit] Definition

A CubeSat is a picosatellite compliant with an internationally accepted standard defined in 1999 by two US Universities : CalPoly and Stanford.

Basically, a CubeSat is a cube of 10cm x 10cm x 10cm for 1Kg. It is often said that a CubeSat is a  "1L, 1Kg, 1W" satellite.

However, there are already three categories of CubeSats : 1U, 2U, 3U.
